I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but one of my biggest problems has been finding good closet storage systems that match my current style. My problem has been that when I want to go shopping, the stores don’t always have what I’m looking for. So, I’m lucky that I have a friend who is a closet designer, and she helped me create a few systems that will be easier on my wallet and help me to create a look that flows through the whole house.

As you may know, I am a professional Closet Remodeling Expert. I was trained in the art of closet design by experts in the field. On this blog, I’ll share with you some of the tips, tricks, and secrets I have learned over the years about designing, remodeling and organizing closets. As a closet designer, I spend a lot of time in closets. I have designed closets for celebrities, and some of Hollywood’s wealthiest and most influential people. I have planned closets in some of the most expensive homes and penthouses in the United States.

If you’re thinking about remodeling your closets, you might be wondering if it’s worth it. After all, it’s expensive to take on a major project like this, even if you’re doing it yourself. Luckily, you can save money and still get the result you want. To make the most out of your remodeling budget, start by thinking about what you can do on your own (or with the help of professionals) and what you should leave to the professionals. If you’re planning to tackle a lot of the work yourself, here are some tips to help you do it right.

Rearranging closets can be a great way to organize your space and eliminate clutter. Fortunately, systems exist, and no matter what your closet design ideas are, there are two main options:

  • Rebuilding an existing closet
  • Redesigns that increase space

If the idea of your closet makes you cringe, if it’s a dark and chaotic wasteland, if it holds objects from the Paleozoic era, imagine an attractive space that could be your closet, where everything is organized: casual clothes and neat clothes, brand name shoes and cheap shoes, belts, bags, sports equipment or jewelry. 1. Raise what you have

word-image-9377 The first step is to have the necessary tools to accurately measure the dimensions of the cabinet and, if necessary, see what additional space is available. Closets.com recommends the following tools:

  • Measuring instrument : This can be a flat tape measure of 1.25 metres or, if desired and necessary, an electronic measuring instrument. These can measure longer walls.
  • Acrylic square finders (two): Use it to check that the corners of the cabinet are straight.
  • Finding corners for cabinets with sloped ceilings: This allows you to measure the angle of the roofline correctly.
  • Paper: Write down all the figures; graph paper can be particularly useful for sketching dimensions and ideas for the cabinet renovation.

2. To take measurements

word-image-9378 Here you will find tips on how to measure:

  • If you are measuring hard, round off to the nearest quarter inch.
  • Round to the nearest whole number for soft sizes.
  • Measure the walls in three places and use the smallest of these measurements: top, middle, bottom.
  • Measure from top to bottom.
  • Check the inside corners.
  • Check the slope angle for sloped ceilings.
  • Note and measure any obstacles, such as. B. Light fixtures and switches, trim and vents.

3. Find out what you are storing

word-image-9379 An interior designer interviewed by GQ advises to sort out your wardrobe before buying anything new. Before deciding what coat racks, drawers and cabinets are needed, clearly define what will be stored in the cabinet after the renovation. Some people have a lot of suits, others have a lot of shoes. Others may have significant amounts of both. How many T-shirts? Sweaters? Armed with this knowledge, it will be easier for you to get ideas for your closet renovation. Think about the features you want

word-image-9380 Houzz.com lists today’s most popular closet features, including the following: Photo credit: White Bear Studio/istockphoto.

1. Illuminate

word-image-9381 According to designers, today’s homeowners demand a variety of lighting features, from LED lights that illuminate specific areas of the cabinet, to lighted rods and shelves, to accent lighting on cabinets, both inside and out. An expert notes that the demand for luxury cabinet lighting has increased by 200% in the past year. While chandeliers were all the rage some time ago, they now seem to be giving way to geometric lighting. Photo credit: Mats Sylvan/istockphoto.

2. A Cloakroom

word-image-9382 This place is no longer reserved for spoiled celebrities. Because not all homes have bedrooms large enough for a walk-in closet, some homeowners choose to convert an extra bedroom – or even an unused dining room or living room – into a walk-in closet. These rooms are usually furnished with chairs, mirrors and even artwork, and range from fairly simple rooms with a dressing table and a comfortable chair to luxurious rooms. 3. Walls that surprise

word-image-9383 Experts say that people who have a simpler wallpaper color or pattern in their room are sometimes willing to experiment more with their closet walls, perhaps with bolder hues or striking patterns. 4. Required functions

word-image-9384 Colorado Homes and Lifestyles magazine lists some of the top jobs in demand today, including:

  • Complete shoe walls for easy recovery
  • Cornices for an elegant update
  • An extendable ladder that can be used in the same way as a home library.
  • A very chic lounge chair

HGTV offers special recommendations:

  • The built-in drawers, called cellarets, for storing socks, ties and other items are well organized.
  • Cabinet for storing laundry with removable insert for transferring the load to the washing machine.
  • Jewelry organizer with several compartments, some with lock

Cabinet conversion No-No

1. Dead space

word-image-9386 Often the space above the top shelf of the cabinets is lost. To some extent, people can fold clothes and place them on this shelf or use it to put boxes on, but access to these items becomes more difficult when they extend more than a meter. Photo credit: snorkulencija/istockphoto

2. Empty space behind hinged doors

word-image-9387 If possible, it’s best to do without hinged closet doors, because you can’t put shelves in them and the clothes that hang in them will always be there. However, you can save space by adding a shelf with hooks for hanging scarves, ties and other delicate items. Photo credit: Elizaveta Shishlyannikova/istockphoto.

3. Flat board

word-image-9388 If the shelves are too shallow, clothes will hang over them and the closet will look messy instead of organized. Many closet systems have 12 shelves; make sure they are deep enough to meet your needs, or choose other, deeper shelves. Photo credit: brizmaker/istockphoto.

What is the cost of refurbishing the cabinet?

word-image-9389 According to Thumbtack.com, the average closet repair will cost between $3,000 and $5,000 in 2020. A good rule of thumb is that the cost per linear foot is $125. Additives influence the cost. These are some of the amounts a person can expect to pay:

  • Professional services: $40 to $60 an hour
  • New faucets and outlets: $55 to $65 per hour.
  • New door: $180
  • Painting: $200

Eligible costs

word-image-9390 Another factor is the type of cabinet: Closet or wardrobe. Closets are generally smaller, but can be functional if organized properly. These cabinets can cost between $1,000 and $2,500 and are often found in small rooms and hallways. If you’ve seen closet renovation shows on TV and dream of the closets they’ve created, this type of closet may cost more, but it still offers plenty of space for clothes and accessories and a good overview of what belongs where. Increase the value of your home

word-image-9391 Renovations in general can increase the value of a home. For example, a one bedroom addition (which would obviously include one or two closets) could represent 58.5% of the cost of an average addition (average total cost of $136,739) or 51.6% of the cost of a high-end addition (average total cost of $282,062). If you are looking to sell a home, a custom closet design can be more valuable to a buyer than an off-the-shelf closet organization product. Photo credit: nat624xa/istockphoto.

The snack bar

word-image-9392 Designing a new closet can range from practical to beautiful, from convenient to luxurious. Measure exactly what you want – first decide if you want to expand the space or enhance what’s already there, and then allocate a budget to make that vision a reality. AlertMeYou’ve heard it all before: a good way to increase the value of your home is to do a complete remodel. That means tearing out most of the rooms in your house and redoing them. Many home buyers want to know, “where do I begin?” The truth is, you don’t have to begin anywhere in particular. Sticking to a plan is important, but you don’t need to get hung up on the details. Many people make the mistake of wanting to do everything at once. (It’s like dieting: if you try to do it all at once, you are more likely to fail.) So take it one step at a time.. Having your closets renovated is definitely an expensive proposition, but it’s also one of the most effective and long-lasting ways to get organized. How much does a closet remodel cost?

A closet remodel is a great home improvement project for people who have limited space in their home, and want to make the most of it. How do I organize and declutter my closet?

If you have a closet that is overflowing with clothes, shoes, and accessories, you are not alone. We’re all victims of what I like to call “closet creep”, where each season we buy new clothes that we think we’ll wear often, and yet somehow we never find the time to wear them. As a result, closets end up filled with clothes that are not only unworn, but in some cases are old and outdated as well. (I still have a pair of leggings from the early 2000’s that I bought for cheerleading practice; while they may still fit, I can’t say I’d wear them in public!) Keeping your closet organized and decluttered can feel like a never-ending task, but you can make it easier on yourself with just a few steps. First, decide whether you want to organize your closet by category (skirts, pants, shirts, etc.) or by item (shoes, jackets, etc.). Next, you need to decide which storage system will work best for you; most closets are designed to accommodate a hanging or shelf system, but you can also use a combination of the two, or turn your closet into a dressing room.
