In the current, uncertain economy, it’s important to be aware of opportunities that will keep your skills sharp and pay off. If you’re considering a career change in order for you and your family to make more money or pursue something new, these are some of the highest paying jobs in each state.
The “states with high-paying jobs and low cost of living” are states that have a high salary and a low cost of living. The list includes Colorado, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Alaska, and Washington State.
It comes as no surprise that your location has a significant influence on your income. A job shift, however, can be a better choice if you want to earn more money but don’t want to move out of your state.
In fact, by halfway through 2021, so many Americans began quitting their employment that commentators began to refer to it as “The Great Resignation.” Approximately 4.5 million Americans lost their employment in November 2021 alone.
We have some possibly encouraging news if you’re a member of the Great Resignation (or are considering this possibility): State Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates were recently issued by the Bureau of Labor Statistics1.
This information demonstrates the pay rates for certain professions, including the highest-paying occupations by state (unsurprisingly, medical fields dominated the list). So go no farther than this list of the highest-paying occupations by state whether you’re considering a career move or are just interested about which profession makes the most money in your state.

The lesson
Many Americans are still taking part in The Great Resignation in the hopes of finding employment that better suits their professional objectives and changing lifestyle requirements. Other employees are looking for employment that pay more and provide greater perks like more flexible hours or the chance to work entirely from home. If you belong to the latter group, this list of lucrative professions may help you determine which industries offer the greatest incomes in your state.
